Historia de un Letrero (The Story of a Sign)
Submitted to the Short Film Online Competition, Cannes 2008
Director: Alonso Alvarez Barreda
UPDATE: After I connected with Alonso on Facebook, he wrote back something I thought pertinent for sharing here:
[...] I always wanted to make this film because I believe in the power of the story, I always thought that it was worth telling it, because I really believe that it carries within a message of love, peace and above all, hope. [...]
Thanks again for the film, Alonso.

It itouch my heart ! I almost cried!
Love mom
This is what humanity is all about. You may not be able to help someone monetary but doing one small thing can change everything.
Loved it.
I’m in tears!
MAGNIFICENT! I LOVED IT.
The acting, story line, music, and photography for a Story-of-a-Sign came together in just the right way to make a film that touched my heart. I have now seen it many times and have shared it with surely 30 or more friends scattered around the world. Even now I am haunted by the film’s story and the music that still echoes in my heart. Yes….a Story-of-a-Sign has warmed my heart to a lovely glow.
a heart moving story. it made me almost cry. it is so touching. i want to tell it to everyone i know.
Beautiful, touching & so very true. May God bless you & your work.
A beautiful story and i can only imagine seeing someone in a similar situation as many i saw in LA and NYC that you turn away from, but the truly kind hearted and needy you tend to wan to help more. The plain old beggars make you turn away. Feeling sorry for them isn’t enough.
Absolutly beautiful, its a shame that there is not more like it in this world.
A little kindness goes a long way———–.
How poignant and generous this film is…the music, the message, the humanity all very beautiful and expansive…thank you.
What a moving story without the need for a spoken word. Beautiful.
I loved the video Historia de un letrero. Can you tell me who wrote to beautiful music which accompanied it?
What a wonderful story, this is a kind of Video that let us learn how the life is full of small & beautiful details, and how important is sometimes when we let the people know our message in a sensitive way…
About the Music….this masterpiece belongs to the original theme from the film “Il Postino”, based on the Novel from the Chilean writer Antonio Skarmeta (its about Neruda’s life in Italy).
It made my day beautiful. What a wonderful story.
